Way over priced, unprofessional, and "prison-like" I do not recommend this place. They will tell you all kind of lies to get you admitted. Once you get there you're in jail without the privilege of using a phone ( they will say you can ) and you'll have to pay-out a big amount after your insurance gets billed. They will word and change up billing to get the most possible out of you and your insurance.

What a joke. What do you get when you overlay some yoga on run of the mill rehab? You still get incompetence. I wish people could contact me to get my personal experience with how ridiculously inept Akua is. WAY oversold and underwhelming to say the least. Especially in Orange County, but I was at the San Diego facility as well.

This was a really bad experience for me. I felt more in a jail then a recovery center. Not only do they push smoking cigarettes or vaping as your only free time active but they lied to me about my total out of pocket cost. Before admission I spoke with them about how I could not afford the cost at the moment , their staff assured me they will work with me and agreed to a payment and guaranteed no more then what we discussed. After only being there for 7 days , i now am being harrassed from them with a bill due 3x what they told me. Apparently they do not honor agreements. I feel taken advantage of and wrongfully overcharged. This place is very unprofessional. I did not see a doctor or therapist during my stay. There is no gym or pool and it has no type of view other than a liquor store across the street. They did not help me and still make my sobriety a struggle with the constant threat of going to collections and possibly losing more. Its not right for them to lie. I do not recommend this place to anyone especially if you have Kaiser for insurance. Dont believe what they say , your better off going to jail for a week its free.

ABSOLUTELY NO! I don't recommend this place to anyone. I had a bad experience here and it really set me back. The bar was set very low for quality of care and I was mistreated by the Director, Eaman S. after I offered suggestions for improvements in a very polite and evidence-based, and mature way of presenting my feedback, coming from a healthcare background myself. I was in disbelief that he behaved so poorly and in what I feel was so immaturely following that, and in what I feel was especially unbecoming of a director of a healthcare facility in charge of providing the best care possible for the patients, wherewith the patients' best interest forward is to be expected. I believe he put his needs first before the needs of the patient and I feel that he showed, what I believe to be revealed as 'his true colors' that lied plainly behind his immediately previous, thinly-veiled facade of composure to me, and also before several residents and staff witnesses that appeared to be in great shock as this behavior exhibited itself uncomely. As such, it is in my firm belief that, under the Director, Eaman S.' direction, the overall structure and coordination of this particular facility was grossly inadequate and significantly misaligned with its mission of providing a safe and healthy place for patients to receive much needed care in a very vulnerable state. Throughout my stay, I became more and more convinced that it was not a place that I could trust to allow myself to be vulnerable to receive care from people that would look out for my best interest. They have a lot of staff turn-over there frequently, if that's any sign to you also. I saw so many staff members go in and go out while I was even there, in that short period of time. Many of the individual staff members I think are very cool though, but I think they are being greatly hindered by the obstruction from giving as much care as I believe they would want to give because of the limitations forced upon them, apparently, by the head of this location, their facility director that this place is being run by; clearly being someone that I feel is completely inappropriate for the role he was able to get for the moment. And I believe it shows, and speaks for itself. -- I would be surprised if he lasts much longer with the state that the facility is in at this time, before the corporation that owns this treatment center realizes the true state of the quality of care, and with what's going on now at one of their prominent locations. I feel it would be in their best interest to review the handling of the program here, and the facility, and the state of the handling of such matters as facility management, staff management, clinical decisions, case management, and  cleanliness. Perhaps they can start with a candid survey, which probes certain aspects in particular of the experiences of the patients here at this facility. It is my belief that you deserve better for your care, and I implore you to find a more reputable institution and facility that can meet your needs and have a high bar set for quality of care! Please vet the institution that you choose to trust with your time and your vulnerability and your financial resources for the help you need to be well! I feel that you deserve to be at a facility that puts the patient needs first; one that is led by a director that has an impeccable dedication to providing the highest level of care and empathy and concern for patients. I was appalled and dismayed that I spent the time I did here and so much money that went to this facility for such poor service. And, on the topic of costs, both from my pocket and the absolutely outrageous amount my insurance company paid out to this facility were given over to yield such a poor level of care in my opinion. I am disgusted. ---- So much so, that I filed a complaint with the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS). PLEASE BE WARNED
