I want to acknowledge I did have some positive interactions, particularly with staff—But I want to express some issues that impacted my time here. My primary concern centers around my experience with the therapist, Sheryl. I didn't have any contact with her for over a week after my arrival. Only after I brought it up during a house meeting did I finally meet with her. While I didn’t intend to place blame, Sheryl’s response came across as defensive. Our initial/only session lasted 20 minutes & felt rushed. At the end, she said, “Well, it seems like you have a good life in Connecticut,” & stated she's only “required” to meet with me once a week. The way this was phrased made it feel like my care was reduced to a checkbox, rather than a genuine therapeutic relationship. Though she said she would follow up with me later in the week, that never happened & no further sessions occurred during my 3 week stay. Despite seeing me around daily, she never checked in or followed up. Instead, her repeated suggestion that I stay the full 30 days seemed to be based not on clinical reasoning, but rather so she could “get a good mark from the insurance,” a comment she made explicitly. She even said, “I don’t care if you stay or not,” & laughed it off while smoking a cigarette. That moment made me feel completely disregarded. Others I spoke with also felt similarly about her lack of engagement/empathy. Sessions felt impersonal, overly brief, & often ended with generic worksheets rather than meaningful therapeutic exploration. Frankly, I’ve received better, more compassionate therapy in state-run facilities. Another issue that repeatedly came up among clients was the handling of detox admissions. Several individuals arrived in active psychosis—screaming, crying, and visibly unstable—yet were placed in rooms with clients nearing the end of their treatment. This not only created an unsafe/triggering environment but also made many residents uncomfortable & even fearful. I personally witnessed 3 clients choosing to sleep on couches because they felt unsafe in their assigned rooms. Even staff members appeared concerned at times. At other facilities I’ve attended, detox clients were housed separately or had structured transitions. Here, the response was, “people get angry if they have to be moved after seven days.” That may be true, but if expectations are communicated clearly from the beginning, it shouldn’t be an issue. For everyone’s safety/comfort, detox clients should be housed separately until stable. During my stay, 40% of the scheduled groups were replaced with movies due to group leaders being unavailable. Often, we'd sit waiting for 15–20 minutes before being told there was no group. This was usually due to scheduling issues, vacations, or miscommunications. When groups did take place, many felt superficial—often limited to check-ins, gratitude lists, or basic educational content. There was little opportunity for in-depth discussion or therapeutic processing. Group leaders frequently got clients’ names wrong & rotated too often to build any meaningful connection. This is not necessarily the fault of the group leaders themselves; rather, the program could benefit from a more consistent, well-structured curriculum with less facilitators who are able to establish rapport & provide continuity. Another concern was the pressure placed on clients to leave 5 star reviews upon discharge. Staff would ask clients to scan a QR code, quickly select five stars, & remain present while they wrote their reviews—telling them to “say something nice” about their experience/the staff. This felt forced and disingenuous. Clients should be free to share honest feedback without pressure/supervision. Lastly, I want to mention the admissions rep, Sebastian. While he was kind/professional during the intake process, many of us felt disappointed that he never visited, despite assuring us that he would. This may seem minor, but it left some of us feeling misled. It'd be better to set clear & honest expectations from the get go. I hope my comments bring change!
If you want a sales pitch call here and when you don’t take the one offer they give because you ask for a little different accommodation, they then proceed to talk shit to you and say how you won’t succeed without them. I found another place that has gone above and beyond and realized this is about my life and not trying to force or make a sale off of me.
This was the worst experience of my life..the staff had no idea how to help me when I started to withdraw..they sold themselves as a medical treatment facility when they're actually basically a sober living house..the only medical person I ever saw was virtual and when they couldn't care for me they tried to say I wasn't truthful about my addiction which was a complete lie..I had shared my story with George and Sebastian and my son traveled to California with me to get me checked in he had also had contact with them..when they had to have me transported to Kaiser because of a fall they tried to keep my property when my family went to get it and to this day I still haven't gotten all of it back and that was five months ago..today I am living a sober life thanks to Royal Life center in Spokane WA.....I have tried to get my remaining items offering to pay for mailing to no avail.. I'm only posting this in hopes that it saves someone else from what I went through and to those living a sober life.. congratulations...I'm guessing this post won't be here long once profound sees it but I would still like my items back
Read until end...this place is horrible!! I had been looking for a treatment center in Florida where I live. I was referred to Profound Treatment Center in LA and George was my point of contact. This was sooo scary putting my husband on a plane and sending him across the country for treatment. George was an absolute Godsend. He gave me his personal contact number and I texted and called him a million times in 2 days but he was sooo amazing and patient and in good spirits everytime I spoke/messaged him. He answered every question and eased every concern my husband and I had. He made this process as smooth and easy as it could possibly be in this kind of situation. He kept in constant contact with me and my husband about everything. It was also a plus for my husband and I that George could relate to what my husband was going through and his entire demeanor made my husband feel comfortable which is by far one of the hardest things to do. I could go on forever about how amazing George has been to us from the very beginning. I have such high hopes for the treatment center due to George alone. Thank you George from the bottom of my heart. You not only saved my family but you saved my husband's life. UPDATE- SENT MY HUSBAND BACK A SECOND TIME...FACILITATORS ASSURED HIM HE WOULD BE FINE TO TAKE HIS NORMAL MEDS...GOT HIM THERE THE DOCTOR CHANGED ALL HIS MEDS THEY TREATED HIM LIKE CRAP AND WHEN HE WANTED TO LEAVE HE WAS ON HIS OWN THEY TREATED HIM LIKE A JUNKIE. SO SAD HOW EACH EXPERIENCE WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I WOULDN'T SEND ANYONE YOU LIVE THERE UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO BE WORSE AND HOOKED ON SEROQUEL AND PHENOBARBITAL....HIS BLOOD PRESSUE WAS IN STROKE LEVELS AND THEY DID NOTHING!!!! COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND IT COSTS US EXTRA MONEY. HAD THEY DONE THEIR JOBS CORRECTLY AND SET HIM UP WITH IOP HE MOST LIKELY NEVER WOULD HAVE HAD TO GO BACK. THIS HORRIBLE PLACE FAILED HIM 2 TIMES NOW!!
